On November 17, PETRONITA in
collaboration with Institut
Telinga, Pendengaran dan Pertuturan (Institute-HEARS) and Faculty of
Dentistry, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) have managed to successfully
conduct talks for parents on “How to cope with hearing impaired disabilities
children” and “Penjagaan Kesihatan Gigi dan Mulut” for parents and students
from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas Kampung Baru (SKPK Kg Baru).
SKPK Kg Baru is a primary
school for hearing impaired with 36 students ranging from 6 to 14 years old.
Out of the 36 students, there are a few students without the hearing aids as
their parents could not afford to purchase the hearing aids (under the B40
category). With the funds collected from Orchid Run & Ride 2018, PETRONITA
will be helping these students to purchase suitable hearing aids.
Hearing check-up is needed to determine whether the students is in worst condition or even worst but still have ability to hear. The parents and student feel very grateful and thankful to PETRONITA which is able to help buy the hearing aid to them. The category B40 price is quite expensive especially for the family in intermediate and poor. They will receive the hearing aid after the next check-up with the doctor on 30 November 2018. This check-up is to know whether the students were comfortable using the hearing aids to themselves.
During the event, UiTM
dentistry faculty brought their mobile clinic and conducted check-up for the
students.
